Our Plating Process
We work with 2 types of plating: gold or silver plating (also called galvanoplasty) and electroplating. Both are made through the electrodeposition system, but they vary in the processes, duration, and materials applied. The following paragraphs explain a little bit of each plating process:
Gold or Silver Plating
The process that is used in this kind of plating is called galvanoplasty, an electrochemical process that consists of coating a metallic base with gold or silver layers through electrodeposition. This method is done only on the metal bases of the products before placing the stones and serves to increase the durability of the article and give a high-quality finish.
The pieces we produce have a brass base covered with noble metals (gold or silver), giving them a finishing similar to fine jewellery.
We work with the best quality plating on the market, free of cadmium, lead, and other heavy metals, using 18k gold in a layer of 10 thousandths or 1000 silver in a layer of 30 thousandths, ensuring excellent durability and great finish. This entire process guarantees a product of high quality and very resistant.
Electroplating Process
The electroplating process also occurs through electrodeposition; however, this process uses a thinner layer of the Nobel metals. The metallisation can be applied directly to the stone or to the metal base, providing a metallic finish located only on the desired area.
The stone is coated with conductive paint in the places where the metallisation is desired. Then, the piece goes through a copper electroplating process for a period of 6 to 8 hours. After completing this process, the noble metals are deposited on top of this copper layer, giving the gold or silver finish.
